The North Star Water Treatment Facility project consists of a Use Permit (U14-009) and Management Plan (MGT14-015) proposing to construct facilities to collect, convey, and treat water that is currently training from three mine features and a spring associated with the former North Star Mine. These drainage features have historically discharged into Wolf Creek. A Cleanup and Abatement Order issued by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (Abatement Order R5-2014-0706) requires the collection and treatment of this drainage water before its release back into Wolf Creek. This application is intended to resolve this issue and address the Cleanup and Abatement Order.
