Sheriff's Office Locations
The Sheriff's Office has offices located at the Eric W Rood Center in the Nevada County Government Center on Maidu Avenue in Nevada City and in the Joseph Center on Levon Avenue in Truckee. Eric Rood Administrative Center in Nevada City
Administrative Offices are located in the Eric W Rood Administrative Center's main building. Administrative Office for all services including: Patrol, Investigations, Animal Control, Evidence, Coroner, Public Administrator, Civil Process and Dispatch are all represented at this location . The Rood Center is located at 950 Maidu Avenue in Nevada City. The County Jail is located in a separate building at 925 Maidu Avenue in Nevada City, also in the Government Center. Driving Directions
From Sacramento, take I-80 East toward Reno. Exit CA-49 East toward Grass Valley. Continue on CA-49 to Nevada City. Turn Left, continuing on CA-49 toward Downieville. Take the 3rd right onto Maidu Avenue at the Nevada County Government Center sign.
From Truckee/Reno, take I-80 West toward Sacramento. Take exit 161 to merge onto CA-20 West toward Nevada City/Grass Valley. Turn right onto CA-49 North. Take the 3rd right onto Maidu Avenue at the Nevada County Government Center sign.
To get to the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, make the first left and enter the first parking lot on the right. Enter the main visitation lobby through the glass doors.
To get to the Sheriff's Office administrative offices, go to the traffic circle. Go around the circle and make the 2nd exit. Enter the Rood Center through the glass doors, take the stair case to the right. At the top of the stairs, go down the hall to the right and enter the Sheriff's Office on the left side of the hall.

Animal Shelter is located at 14679 McCourtney Road in Grass Valley.
Driving Directions
From Sacramento, take I-80 East. Exit onto CA-49 North. Take the McKnight Way exit toward S Auburn St. Turn left onto W McKnight Way. Turn right onto Freeman Lane. Continue onto McCourtney Road. Animal Control is located approximately 4 miles up McCourtney Road on the left.
From Nevada City, take CA-20 West/CA-49 South toward Sacramento. Take the CA-20 West. Take the Mill Street exit. Turn right onto Mill Street. Take the 1st right onto McCourtney Road. Animal control is located approximately 4 miles up McCourtney Road on the left.
Truckee
The Sheriff's Office is located at 10879 Donner Pass Rd, Truckee, California.
Driving Directions
From Reno, take I-80 West. Take exit 186 toward Central Truckee. Make slight right onto Donner Pass Road. Take the 1st left onto Levon Avenue. The Sheriff's Office is located on the left.
From Sacramento, take I-80 East. Take exit 186 toward Central Truckee. Turn right onto Donner Pass Road. At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit and stay on Donner Pass Road. Turn left onto Levon Avenue. The Sheriff's Office is located on the left.
