How You Can Help
Take Actions that Save Lives
You can help protect our essential workers, first responders, vulnerable residents, and businesses by staying home except for essential needs.
Wear a Mask
Coronavirus spreads when an infected person coughs, sneezes, sings, talks, or breathes within 6 feet of others. You may have the virus and spread it even if you feel well.
To prevent infection, cover your nose and mouth when outside your home. Wearing a mask can slow the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the release of virus into the air. Cloth masks or face coverings can also reduce your exposure to infectious droplets through filtration.
Join the Volunteer Hub
211 Connecting Point’s Volunteer Hub serves as a one-stop-shop for those looking for ways to lend a helping hand during the coronavirus pandemic. If you are able to assist with volunteer needs such as meal delivery, food packing and distribution, and disaster healthcare please visit the Volunteer Hub to register.
Become a California Health Corps Volunteer
California is preparing for an increase in the number of people who urgently need health care in our communities during the COVID-19 outbreak. To meet this moment, they’re opening additional health care sites to treat people affected by COVID-19 and to relieve the pressure on our health care system by providing care for non-COVID-19 cases. More information available here: https://covid19.ca.gov/healthcorps.
The Nevada County Relief Fund provides grants to for-profit businesses that are complying with public health guidelines. Visit their website at www.nevcorelief.org for information on current funding opportunities.
Donated blood has decreased dramatically. Healthy, eligible donors are urged to come out and give to ensure there’s lifesaving blood on the shelves for those who need it most. Visit the American Red Cross: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive.
