Testimonial from a Student Intern- Katie Ormsby

Katie

"After graduating from UC Davis in 2020 with my Bachelor’s Degree, it was difficult to find a job when most businesses were downsizing and moving toward working remotely due to the Pandemic. After researching the options out there, I came across an internship opportunity with the Nevada County Human Resources Department. My internship experience constantly exceeded my expectations with exceptional hands-on experience, as well as gaining valuable skills that even helped build my resume. The vast array of information that I learned during my 9-Month internship not only allowed me to learn about the counties departments and the possibilities this county offers, but it opened up a career path within the county for me. After my internship, I became a temporary employee within the Human Resources Department, and then was offered a full-time benefited position within the Health and Human Services Agency. I see a long future ahead working for Nevada County and that is all because of the internship program, and I will forever be thankful for the help and support I received."
