Role of the County Counsel

The County Counsel is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and acts as the attorney for the County, including:
  • The Board of Supervisors
  • Certain special districts
  • County Officers
  • Departments and Boards
  • Elected Officials

The Office of the County Counsel

Drafts and reviews resolutions, ordinances and agreements
Handles litigation for the Board of Supervisors, County officers and departments
Reviews legal documents concerning the County and its operations

The Office of the County Counsel does not provide legal services to individual members of the public.
