The November 16th LAFCO meeting will take place at the Eric Rood Administrative Center, 950 Maidu Avenue, Nevada City, CA  95959.

Persons wishing to provide written informational materials to the Commission for any agenda item, shall forward said materials to the LAFCo office (ref: email address and physical address - just to the right).  Staff will ensure the materials are provided to the Commissioners.

LAFCo’s Budget Committee prepares a budget proposal for the consideration of the Commission.  The preliminary budget was considered on April 21, 2022.   On June 16, 2022, the Commission adopted the Committee's recommendation.

About LAFCo

The primary mission of the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) is to encourage the orderly growth and development of the local agencies within the county, in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the State Legislature in the Cortese-Knox Local Government Reorganization Act of 1985, Section 56000, et seq. of the Government Code.
 
 LAFCo's responsibilities include the review and approval of the formation of public agencies, a change in boundaries of existing agencies, and other changes in organization of local agencies, such as consolidations. LAFCo's efforts are directed toward encouraging the efficient and economic delivery of public services, and the preservation of agricultural and open-space lands.

LAFCo operates under the authority of the Local Government Reorganization Act (PDF). The Commission has adopted policies and procedures to implement the provisions of the Act.
