After a great 7 weeks, it's time to celebrate the end of Summer Learning in western Nevada County. The Nevada County Library has had over 2000 kids and teens get free books from our Friends of the Library and sign up for the Summer Learning Challenge.
The last week includes a final concert by Papa Oom Papa on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Madelyn Helling Library, a Messy Art Party on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Madelyn Helling Library, Star Wheels with the Astronomy Club on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Grass Valley library, and two performances by Conservation Ambassadors on Thursday (10:30 a.m at Grass Valley Library, 1:00 p.m. at Madelyn Helling Library). Kids can turn in their Challenge Sheets and bookmarks until July 26 to enter our Grand Prize Drawing.
The Finale Party, on Saturday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Madelyn Helling Library, will include a thrilling and interactive show by Traveling Lantern Theater Company, "My Mother the Astronaut." Aquarius' mom is an astronaut, and today is "Take your child to work day." Aquarius can't wait to go to NASA and find out what it's like to be in space! They visit Mission Control where she meets scientists and engineers who show her what they do, and she learns all about space travel. Her imagination blasts off, and she dreams of incredible journeys through the cosmos! Activities and snacks from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., performance at 10:30 a.m., and then winners of our Grand Prize Drawing at 11:30 a.m. (you don't need to be present to win).
