[ARCHIVED] Nevada and Placer County Accepting Tahoe/Truckee Prevention and Early Intervention Program Proposals

Nevada County and Placer County Behavioral Health are accepting proposals for Prevention and Early Intervention programs funded by the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) in the Tahoe/Truckee region. The MHSA, otherwise known as Proposition 63, is funded by a 1% tax on personal income over $1 million, and is designed to expand and transform California’s county mental health systems. Prevention and Early Intervention programs aim to reduce stigma associated with mental health issues, diminish serious mental health issues, and implement early detection strategies to keep mental illnesses from becoming severe and disabling, if possible. The majority of PEI funding must be set aside for individuals 25 years old or younger.

This Request for Intent (RFI) is a joint request from Placer and Nevada Counties for Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) programs serving the Tahoe/Truckee region. A total of up to $687,000 is available in Fiscal Year 2020-2021 for various focus areas including school-based services, homeless outreach, Latino community outreach, stigma reduction, parenting classes, and early intervention counseling services.

Tahoe/Truckee proposals are due by 5PM on February 3rd, 2020, and the Tahoe/Truckee MHSA RFI is posted at https://www.mynevadacounty.com/734/Purchasing. There is a separate Request for Proposal (RFP) process for Western County programs; this RFP is also available on the County website. A pre-proposal conference will be held on January 17th, 2020 at 1PM at Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation in Truckee. Any inquiries regarding this RFP can be directed to Desiree Belding of the Purchasing Division, at desiree.belding@co.nevada.ca.us.
