Every ten years, local governments that elect by district must redraw their district lines to assure nearly equal population counts. The data received by the Census in the fall of 2021 is used to redraw the new district lines and the process must be completed by mid-December.
Redistricting impacts every community in Nevada County. The redistricting process determines which neighborhoods are grouped together in a district for the purpose of electing a new board member to represent that district. Nevada County has created a Redistricting Commission comprised of County staff and a Redistricting Advisory Council comprised of residents to assist in the redistricting process.
Participate in the Nevada County redistricting process by participating or submitting comments to redistricting meetings. The County of Nevada has launched a new webpage and email subscription to help our community better understand the redistricting process and the impact it has on each individual member.
