On Thursday, July 1st, at 11 a.m., the Nevada County Community Library will offer the third in a five-part series on basic genealogy research techniques, “Genealogy Basics: Other Records.” Librarians Alisa Austin and Laura Pappani have packed the program with information on a variety of topics including naturalization, military service and pensions, land ownership, cemeteries and mortuaries, and dog licenses.
The Genealogy Basics series, offered on Zoom and Facebook Live, is aimed at helping beginners learn how to research their family tree. Each program is independent of the others, so if a person missed the first two programs in the series, they will still be able to follow this one. Recordings of past programs can be viewed on the Library’s YouTube channel. The final two programs of the series, to be offered later this summer, will cover online resources and DNA testing.
More information and a link to register for “Genealogy Basics: Other Records” can be found on the Library Events Calendar at https://madelynhelling.evanced.info/signup/calendar.
