I am so pleased to see our community coming out of its COVID hideaway and buzzing with activity. The Bridgeport bridge is getting ever-so-close to completion. It’s back to looking like the old bridge and completion is targeted for the end of September. The rodeo grounds is hosting the Gymkhana series on July 10 and September 11, ropings on July 9, August 20, and September 10, and the Penn Valley Hometown Fall Festival on October 2. At Western Gateway Park, the Tasty Thursday Farmers Markets are taking place on Thursday mornings from 9 am to 1 pm and Outdoor Family Movie Nights are each Thursday evening at dark. The Helping Hands Adult Day Care Program is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 am to 3 pm at the Penn Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church. And, finally, the Sierra Storytelling Festival is returning to the North Columbia Schoolhouse in North San Juan this Friday through Sunday, July 16-19.
To celebrate our nation’s birthday, Music in the Mountains put on a beautiful Happy Birthday USA concert at Western Gateway Park on July 3rd and Lake Wildwood hosted a fantastic Independence Day fireworks display. Thanks to both venues for bringing these wonderful events and memories to our community.
