After closing to foot traffic in 2011, the historic Bridgeport Covered Bridge reopened on Thursday, November 4th, for the community to walk across and enjoy.
State Parks celebrated the reopening with the Save Our Bridge Campaign Committee, Sierra Gold Parks Foundation, Nevada County, The South Yuba River Citizens League, Nevada County Superintendent of Schools, area chambers of commerce, elected officials, and many other members the public. These partners, local residents, and students have supported the restoration of the historic Bridgeport Covered Bridge at South Yuba River State Park over the past decade, which required $6.9 million in funding to rehabilitate this treasured landmark.
