Nevada County Board of Supervisor district boundaries must be redrawn every 10 years using U.S. Census data to make the county’s five districts as equal in population as possible. The County hired a specialist to perform this assessment and recommendations were then presented to the board for our feedback. The main goals in the process were to keep communities of interest whole and to limit any differences in population across the districts to no more than 10%.
While the final changes have not yet been adopted, it’s looking like the changes to District 1 will be as follows:
- Additions: moving most of North Bloomfield Road, Rock Creek Road, and Highway 20 residential areas into District 1. Same with Cascade Shores and Banner Quaker Hill.
- Subtractions: western end of Mount Olive Road will move into District 2. Loma Rica Ranch will move into District 3.
The final map showing the new supervisorial district boundaries is to be adopted by the Board of Supervisors at their Dec. 14, 2021 meeting.
