[ARCHIVED] Nevada County Grant Opportunities: Improving Household Income and Family Self-Sufficiency?

The Nevada County Adult & Family Services Commission (AFSC) has two Request for Proposal (RFP) opportunities for the Nevada County Community Services Block Grant Funding (CSBG) and the issuance of Community Initiative Funds (CIF). The application deadline for both grant opportunities is April 5, 2022, and the selection process will occur at the April 2022 AFSC meeting. All applicants are encouraged to attend. Nonprofit organizations may find additional information and the applications for funding at www.MyNevadaCounty.com/AFSC.

Community Services Block Grant Funding: Improving Household Income

The AFSC seeks proposals from local nonprofit agencies to provide services that will enhance the priority set forth by the Community Services Block Grant Community Action Plan (CSBG CAP) in the area of Improving Household Income.

One CSBG award will be funded in the total amount of $120,000 in support of the mission of the AFSC to improve the lives of low-income residents of Nevada County. A single award totaling $120,000 will be disbursed in the amount of $46,000 for the calendar year 2022 and $74,000 for the calendar year 2023, based on the availability of funds.

Community Initiative Funds: Family Self-Sufficiency

Additionally, The Nevada County Board of Supervisors, through the AFSC, anticipates the authorization of funding to facilitate projects in support of programs that alleviate the causes of poverty in Nevada County through the issuance of Community Initiative Funds (CIF).

The purpose of this RFP is to solicit, from qualified nonprofit applicants, proposals designed to promote Family Self-Sufficiency through projects that support educational and cognitive development; income and asset building; nutrition; housing, and/or health and social/behavioral development. Projects must support programs that mitigate root causes of poverty and ameliorate conditions of extreme poverty for low-income Nevada County households.

It is estimated that the Community Initiative Funding (CIF) available under this RFP will total $30,000. Funds will be allocated on a one-time-only basis to two separate projects at an amount not to exceed $15,000 each.
