[ARCHIVED] Continued Aftermath of Winter Storm Debris - Conversations with AT&T

Downed Trees Due to Snow

Many AT&T customers experienced serious landline and cell phone disruptions during Snowmaggedon and its aftermath in late December / early January. Because of the volume of issues and length of time it took AT&T to address these issues, we tracked each complaint we received, including the recently reported issue of downed lines still littering neighborhoods. Last week we had a productive call with AT&T’s government liaison, where we aired a number of frustrations and provided them with a compilation of issues from your emails and calls to me. We will be having additional follow-up calls with them.

AT&T’s phone number for complaints, including unburied lines or exposed cables, is 1-800-288-2020. If you have an unresolved issue with AT&T and they have not been responsive or the response was unsatisfying, please contact email me at Heidi.Hall@co.nevada.ca.us and I will follow-up directly with our government liaison. We will be working hard to hold them and other service providers accountable. If you come across telecommunication debris, downed lines or other damaged infrastructure, please report it to your local utility provider and refrain from touching it to prevent injury. Residents can also file complaints regarding utilities or telecommunications with the CPUC Consumer Affairs Branch (CAB) by following these steps:

  1. Contact Your Utility Provider. (CPUC recommends that, before filing your complaint, you first give your utility provider a chance to resolve your complaint by contacting their customer service department.)
  2. Prepare the necessary information to file an “informal complaint”;
  3. File an informal complaint
  4. If the issue is still not resolved, file a “formal complaint.
