Nevada County has been awarded $1.7 Million in Youth Workforce funds.
This program will bring together youth to help address urgent challenges in our community, while simultaneously learning key skills and earning money to help create career pathways and support the community in the areas of food insecurity, climate, and local COVID-19 recovery. Post-pandemic economic recovery is key to our success and is an important part of our economic development strategy supporting a Board Objective. This is a 2-year program and will commence in July of 2022.
The grant program is designed to provide communities with an opportunity to create and/ or expand on existing youth workforce development. This program aims to increase living wage employment opportunities for under resourced youth by creating and increasing career and technical education pathways in growing sectors that address climate impacts, food insecurity and preventing food waste.
The program is made possible by the CaliforniansForAll Youth Workforce Program. This program is a Governor’s initiative administered by CaliforniaVolunteers in partnership with California counties and cities with populations of less than 300,000. Nevada County plans to partner with Connecting Point and Bright Futures for Youth to serve participants.
