The Superior Court of California, County of Nevada is seeking applications from Nevada County citizens interested in serving on the 2022/2023 Grand Jury. If selected, you would serve from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
To qualify, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age
- Be a current resident of Nevada County for at least a year immediately prior to applying
- Speak and write English
- Not have any felony convictions
Service on the Grand Jury requires a substantial investment of time, usually 10 – 30 hours per week, depending on investigations and tasks assigned. We provide training and support. We are especially interested in citizens who are comfortable with writing, working collaboratively, and who have computer skills using standard office software. A curious mind is a must! Jurors come from a cross-section of our community and bring many different backgrounds, life experiences, skills, and professions to our mix. There is a small payment for meetings you attend and mileage reimbursement if travel is required. The jury now uses remote meeting tools which will make it easier for citizens in the Truckee area to participate more fully.
If this sounds like an opportunity you would like to investigate, please go to the Grand Jury webpage to read more about the Grand Jury, its objectives, and mission to serve the citizens of Nevada County. The online application makes it easy for you to apply. You may also leave a voicemail at 530-265-1730 and someone will return your call to answer any questions.
Come join us for this vitally important function of our state and county civil governance!
