[ARCHIVED] Community Corrections Partnership Working to Develop Strategic Plan

Last week, the Nevada County Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) Executive Committee worked with Justice Systems Partners to develop a CCP strategic plan.  The planning process engaged and incorporated input from Nevada County criminal justice system stakeholders, community members, and people with lived experience in the system.  Stakeholders (leadership, staff, partners, community) provided input via surveys, interviews, and onsite work sessions.

Justice Systems Partners is now taking the information from the interviews, surveys, and work sessions to construct a draft plan. The current draft goals include:

  •  CCP will be data driven in decision making and evaluating outcomes
  • Improve community engagement and participation in the CCP
  • Ensure a safe Nevada County by reducing and preventing crime
  • Improve overall quality of life in Nevada County

Each goal will have objectives and tasks associated with it to help achieve the intended goal. Once the draft is complete, the CCP will work on refining and ultimately adopting the strategic plan.

The CCP pre-dates Assembly Bill 109 (AB109), however AB109 expanded the role of the CCP, through the establishment of an Executive Committee. The CCP Executive Committee, is chaired by the Chief Probation Officer, with additional members made up of the Sheriff, District Attorney, Public Defender, local Chief of Police, Health and Human Services Agency Director and a Superior Court representative. The CCP provides planning, oversight, implementation, and assessment of Realignment in Nevada County. Realignment objectives and goals are to be accomplished through the expanded use of evidence-based practices and programming that promotes positive behavioral change and outcomes that have been shown to reduce recidivism.

The CCP meetings are open to the public and participation and involvement is encouraged.  Go to the Community Corrections Partnership website to view the latest meeting minutes and find details on upcoming meetings.
