[ARCHIVED] New Supports to Help You Quit Tobacco

Whether it's your first or fifth attempt to quit, it's important to keep trying because research tells us that each quit attempt increases your odds of success. The Nevada County Public Health Department and 211 Connecting Point are teaming up to support Nevada County residents who want to quit tobacco. We are offering free Quit Kits, as well as free, in-person classes to support you in quitting once and for all.

211 Connecting Point is offering Freedom from Smoking classes at no charge to the community. These classes bring other people who are quitting together to provide resources and support. A class is starting later this month. To sign-up, call Karen at Connecting Point at (530) 274-5601 and find out more or register on-line here.

Another new (and free) resource is Quit Kits. Call 211 Connecting Point by dialing 2-1-1 to get one mailed to you. A Quit Kit is an envelope of small items that can help to curb urges to smoke, chew, or vape by keeping your hands and mouth busy. In the Kit there is also a resource card for the California Smoker's Helpline, 1-800-NO-BUTTS. The Helpline offers mobile apps, free advice and counseling services, and assistance if you need nicotine replacement (like patches, gum, or medications).

If you have any questions about classes or Quit Kits, call 2-1-1 or toll-free at 1-877-847-0499. If you have questions about Nevada County Tobacco Prevention programs, contact Shannon Glaz Shannon.Glaz@co.nevada.ca.us.
