The Nevada County Clerk-Recorder's Office has just completed the first part of a series of document restoration projects to preserve historical records that have begun to deteriorate with time.
As the custodian of records, the Clerk-Recorder’s Office is responsible for preserving the county's historical land records from the 1800s on. These include all official public acts, such as deeds, patents, mining claims, and other documents that are important to the history of Nevada County.
As we restore the physical books, we are also digitizing the records to make them more easily accessible to the public and to ensure their preservation in the event of a disaster.
