In 2021, many families in California were issued a special kind of food assistance called "P-EBT." These cards were different from regular CalFresh benefits, and were issued on a special black-and-white card with an apple on it.
If you received a P-EBT card in 2021 and did not use it, you can contact the P-EBT program before August 18th, 2023 to get the benefits reissued.
To request a reissuance, families can contact the P-EBT 2.0 Expungement Helpline at 1-800-887-8230 (Monday – Friday 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM) or visit the P-EBT website at www.ca.p-ebt.org and use the P-EBT Live Chat (Monday – Friday 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM) to request a new card. These new cards should be received in late September through October.
To qualify for a P-EBT Reissuance, families must have:
- Received a P-EBT 2.0 in 2021, and
- Not used any of the benefits on the card, causing the benefits to be removed
When calling or chatting, make sure you have the following information ready:
- First and last name of the child(ren) you believe is eligible,
- Date of birth of the child(ren), and
- The address on file during the 2021 P-EBT 2.0 issuance
