New funding, up to $40,000, is available for homeowners hoping to develop new Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), also known as granny flats, in-law units, backyard cottages, or second units, in Nevada County.

There is a severe need for additional housing in Nevada County. There is no one prescription for the problem; however, the objective of the ADU Grant Program is to create more affordable, effective options for providing homes for friends, families, and colleagues here in Nevada County.

The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) ADU Program opened additional funding. They will grant up to $40,000 to qualified homeowners to reimburse ADU pre-development costs, including but not limited to site prep, architectural designs, permits, soil tests, impact fees, property surveys, and energy reports. To qualify, a homeowner must have a low or moderate income. This program is in high demand, so check to see if you qualify and apply before the funds run out:  Application for California Housing Finance Agency Program.
