[ARCHIVED] Free Rx Medication Take-Back Day in Nevada County, October 27th

Medication - Rx Take Back NewsFlash

Most of us have a leftover bottle of prescription medication in our medicine cabinet that we no longer need or is expired. But few of us know what to properly do with prescription drugs once we no longer need them (here's a hint: don't flush them or throw them in the trash!).

Community Partners

Saturday, October 27th, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a free event hosted in collaboration with the DEA, Nevada County Public Health, Nevada County Sheriff, Coalition for a Drug-Free Nevada County, Tahoe-Truckee Future without Drug Dependence, Tahoe Forest Health System, North Tahoe Public Utility District, Tahoe City Public Utility District, Truckee Police, Placer County Sheriff, Coalition for Nevada County Youth, Grass Valley Police, and Community Recovery Resources.

Why a Drug Take-Back Event?

Help protect our water supply by not flushing medications, and help protect our community as some may be abusing drugs taken from the medicine cabinets of family and friends.

Please put pills into a zip-lock bag and dispose of empty pill bottles in trash or recycling. Keep liquid medications in the original bottle and black out confidential information and put in zip-lock bag. Sharps are accepted at Tahoe City location but not Truckee location.

To drop off your prescription, mark out any personal information on your bottle and bring it to the drop-off events at the following locations:
