Nevada County's Every Women Counts program is designed to support women's health by offering free breast exams, mammograms (for those 40 years and older), and cervical cancer screenings (for those 21 years and above). Despite its importance, the program is currently underused, and we're actively working to increase participation.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 240,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed annually in the US. Cervical cancer, though preventable, also remains a significant health concern.
Early detection through programs like "Every Woman Counts" significantly improves treatment outcomes and prognosis. We urge eligible individuals to take advantage of this valuable resource. To schedule an appointment at Nevada County Public Health, call 530-582-7814. The screenings take place at 10075 Levon Ave, Suite 202, Truckee, CA.
Let's work together to ensure that every woman in our community has access to essential healthcare services. Learn more and check your eligibility at Every Woman Counts (ca.gov).
Remember, early detection saves lives!
