The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office is actively hiring correctional officers to work at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, the county’s primary jail. Those considering a career in corrections or law enforcement are invited to join jail staff on Monday, March 25 for a jail tour, and questions and answers session. Women are strongly encouraged to attend the tour and apply for open positions.
“I started my career with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 as a correctional officer,” shared Sheriff Shannan Moon. “Fortunately for me, my father was in law enforcement, and he brought the idea to me to work inside our county jail, which I had never thought of doing. [I] took a tour and immediately what I recognized was the amount of camaraderie and teamwork that happens in law enforcement and especially inside our correctional facilities.”
Sheriff Shannan Moon began her career as a correctional officer and is inviting others to do the same by attending the Sheriff’s Jail Job Fair and Facility Tour on March 25. Due to the sensitive nature of jail operations, tour registration is required and subject to approval. To get started, interested parties are invited to submit their pre-tour registration form online at: https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/FormCenter/Wayne-Brown-Correctional-Facility-30/Jail-Job-Fair-and-Facility-Tour-on-March-148 or at https://tinyurl.com/WayneBrown.
After submitting the pre-tour registration, staff will connect with tour participants to complete their registration, which includes identity verification (valid driver’s license) and a tour waiver form. The entire registration process takes less than five minutes to complete.
