[ARCHIVED] Celebration of Gratitude Poetry Reading at Truckee and Madelyn Helling Libraries

Poetry Reading Newsflash

April showers may bring May flowers, but at the library, they also bring an abundance of poetic inspiration and gratitude! In celebration of National Poetry Month, Nevada County Reads and the Sierra Poetry Festival proudly present two enchanting evenings of verse, rhythm, and community engagement.

Poetry Reading with June Sylvester Saraceno and Karen Terrey

Join us at the Truckee Library on Wednesday, April 3rd, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm for an enchanting journey into the world of gratitude through poetry. Acclaimed poets June Sylvester Saraceno and Karen Terrey will illuminate the evening with readings from "The Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude" by the talented Ross Gay, alongside other stirring poetic pieces. But the magic doesn't end there! Following the readings, participants are invited to delve deeper into their own creative spirits with a stimulating writing workshop featuring thought-provoking prompts.

Poetry Reading with Tricia Caspers & Rooja Mohassessy

Join us on Friday, April 5th, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, as the Madelyn Helling Library transforms into a haven for poetry and intrigue. Prepare to be captivated by the lyrical prowess of poets Patricia Caspers and Rooja Mohassessy as they share their evocative works with the audience. Rooja Mohassessy, an Iranian-born poet and esteemed educator, will share selections from her debut collection "When Your Sky Runs Into Mine," the winner of the prestigious 22nd Annual Elixir Poetry Award. Patricia Caspers, the visionary founding EIC of West Trestle Review, will offer a glimpse into her poetic prowess, with her third full-length collection "The Most Kissed Woman In The World" set to captivate audiences upon its release in June 2024. But wait, there's more! Following the readings, aspiring poets and seasoned wordsmiths alike are invited to take the stage for an open mic session, where creativity knows no bounds.

Don't Miss Out!

These events are open to all members of the community and promise evenings filled with inspiration, camaraderie, and the transformative power of poetry. Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable celebration of gratitude, creativity, and the written word!
