Nevada County and the Nevada Joint Union High School District (NJUHSD) selected Jeff Dellis as the Career Technical Education (CTE) and Youth Leadership Project Coordinator. The shared position is the first of its kind, focusing on developing and supporting youth leadership and career opportunities.

“Jeff's appointment marks a significant step forward in working collaboratively with our High School District to enhance youth leadership development and career technical education. His efforts will undoubtedly create meaningful opportunities for students,” said County CEO Alison Lehman.

Jeff started with Nevada County part-time in summer 2023 to develop the County’s new Youth Commission, a platform aimed at empowering and amplifying the voices of young people in the community. Under Jeff’s leadership, Nevada County was the first rural California county to implement a Youth Commission.

"Blurring the lines between the classroom and the workplace is a driving force behind our Career Technical programs,” said NJUHSD Director of CTE Noah Levinson. “We're excited to have Jeff on board to work with our wonderful local community businesses to facilitate meaningful internships and work experience that will engage our youth and get them excited about their future careers in Nevada County."

In this expanded full-time role, he will develop opportunities for students to gain real-world career experience, integrate career pathways from high school to employment, and design and support internships. He will also continue his work with the Nevada County Youth Commission.

"Working with youth is incredibly rewarding," said Dellis. "I've had the opportunity to teach many students who have done great things in our community and beyond. I'm looking forward to helping our young adults make a positive impact and connecting them with opportunities to grow and develop careers here locally."

Dellis is a retired teacher from Nevada Union High School, where he served as the athletic director and taught government for over 20 years.
