The Golden Empire Flying Association and Downtown Grass Valley Association are partnering with Nevada County to host an Armed Forces Day and fly-in. Admission is free, and over 100 aircraft will be on display. There will also be a CAL FIRE open house, food trucks, drinks, music, and more!
The event will include multiple military and civilian aircraft flyovers from the Nevada County Airport based in Grass Valley. The military flyovers scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. can be very loud and will be audible from surrounding areas. Planes will be flying in and out of the airport throughout the event. At 11 a.m., a ceremony will be held to present the 2024 Military Service Awards to 13 active-duty personnel.

- Saturday, May 18, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. (planes could be flying until 4 p.m., depending on airplane ride purchases).
- Nevada County Airport, 13083 John Bauer Ave., Grass Valley. Parking and a free shuttle for the event are located at 12548 Loma Rics Dr., Grass Valley (just before you reach the Nevada County Airport).
- FREE event for all ages (8 a.m. pancake breakfast and airplane rides are available for purchase; proceeds fund local aviation scholarships).
