To support community-wide wildfire preparedness, Nevada County Office of Emergency Services (OES) and United Way of Nevada County (UWNC) have teamed up to offer a FREE Community Go-Bag Party on June 8. Held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Memorial Building, the event will be an opportunity for residents to refresh their Go-Bag with resources such as hand crank radios, evacuation tags, first aid kits, zone magnets, and more!
Community members are invited to drop by, pick up what they need, and enter to win premium fully stocked Go-Bags. In addition, pre-made Go-Bags and Pet Go-Bags will be available to the first 100 community members who turn out to the event. A short informational program and the drawing of the Go-Bag winners will take place at 10 am. Staff will be on hand all morning to answer questions about wildfire and evacuation, with an eye toward vulnerable members of our community.

To support the dissemination of key resources, OES is offering the opportunity for Firewise Communities county-wide to place an order for materials to share with their friends and neighbors. Orders can be placed through June 3 at the following link: https://forms.office.com/g/de1SN6a3pu
Order pick-up for western Nevada County Firewise Communities will be at the Go-Bag Party on June 8 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Hall. Pick-up for Firewise Communities in eastern Nevada County will be on June 7 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Truckee Town Hall’s Trout Creek Conference Room.
