On behalf of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, Nevada County Environmental Health is sharing that they plan on starting a microbial study along Wolf Creek.
Who: The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program (SWAMP) research team
What: Microbial study along the Wolf Creek
Where: Along Wolf Creek in Grass Valley
When: 10-12 week study beginning in mid-June 2024
Why: SWAMP monitors tributaries throughout California. SWAMP will conduct indicator bacteria sampling along Wolf Creek and select tributaries, including French Ravine. They will focus on sampling for E. coli, an indicator of fecal pollution and potential pathogens. Data will be gathered to better understand the presence/absence of fecal pollution and potential sources.
Contact: Should you have any questions regarding the sampling or want more information, please contact SWAMP at R5-SWAMP@Waterboards.ca.gov or visit the Central Valley Water Board SWAMP Recreational Water Quality Monitoring webpage.
