The first event, “Haunted History,” will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Doris Foley Library for Historical Research. This exclusive after-hours presentation will dive into the historic ghosts of the National Exchange Hotel, which was built in 1856 and has long been a central piece of Nevada City’s history—ghost stories included! Settle in and enjoy eerie local tales at our library branch, located just up the road from the National Exchange.

Tuesday, Oct. 22: Haunted Histories of Leap Castle and Glamis Castle

For those whose curiosity still isn’t satisfied, join us again at the Grass Valley Library on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m. for “Ghastly Ghosts: The Haunted Histories of Leap Castle and Glamis Castle.” Mark Lyon will present the spooky stories of these two famous castles, each steeped in history and legend. Leap Castle, located in Ireland, is often claimed to be one of the most haunted castles in the world, while Scotland’s Glamis Castle is known for its own share of frightening tales—and is famously said to be the inspiration for the setting of Shakespeare’s Macbeth

Don't miss out on these hauntingly fascinating events! Whether you're a history buff, a ghost story enthusiast, or just looking for some fun seasonal activities, Nevada County Libraries have something for everyone this fall. Gather your friends and family and join us for an unforgettable journey into the eerie past of some of the world's most haunted locations.
