Paul Johnson is the new Sierra Nevada Regional Child Support Services Director. Johnson will oversee the child support programs for both Sierra and Nevada counties, which is responsible for establishing and enforcing court-ordered child support.

Johnson has been the attorney for child support services for Nevada County since August 2012. “The child support system can be complicated and intimidating for families to navigate. Having been with child support for almost 13 years, Paul not only has the experience but has shown his commitment to reducing the stress and anxiety for our families going through the process,” said Ryan Gruver, health and human services agency director.

The program has consistently ranked among the top-performing child support agencies in the State, collecting millions of dollars annually on behalf of local families. “I am grateful and humbled to lead an office that, due to the dedication and passion of our staff, regularly achieves top five in the state and second last year,” Johnson said.

Johnson graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005 and earned his law degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2008. He has served as a member of the Nevada County Bar Association, is past president of the board of directors for Community Legal and is currently a board member of Community Beyond Violence.

In 2010, Johnson and his family moved to Nevada City, where his wife was born and raised. He loves spending time outdoors with his wife, Athena, and three children, Soleil, Violet, and Jules.
