Kathlee’s history with the County
Kathlee, a Nevada County Clinic Practitioner, has coordinated the TeenClinic for over 17 years since she started with Nevada County. The Teen Clinic
had been a County program for less than a year before she started with NevadaCounty.
The Truckee Teen Clinic
Kathlee takes the lead on coordinating the Truckee
Teen Clinic. Although the Teen Clinic is only open 4 hours per week, it seesover 450 teens each year – that’s almost 40 teens per month! One of the many
reasons the Teen Clinic is so successful is its ability to be teen-friendly. Services include role-playing situations thatfocus on helping teens make better decisions. The Clinic doesn’t just serve Eastern Nevada
County either; it serves the entire region including Sierra County and EasternPlacer County too.
Why she’s passionate about providing teen
services
Kathlee’s passion for providing these important services for teensfirst started when she moved to the North Tahoe area when she was 17. When
starting out in her career, she got involved in an EMT program which led her toa career in nursing. Early on, Kathlee recognized a need for the types of
services provided in a teen clinic, from providing education on substance abuseto providing strategies to address peer pressure, and visited her local teen
clinic herself when she was young.
