Spring is in full swing, and so is programming at the Nevada County Library. From learning how to lower your energy bill to crafting show-stopping lyrics or building digital skills, the Madelyn Helling Library in Nevada City is offering a vibrant lineup of free events to help you learn, create and thrive.
Save Money with the Energy Wise Workshop
The Energy Wise Workshop, presented in partnership with Sierra Energy Reimagined, takes place Thursday, April 24, 4 to 6:30 p.m. This monthly session is open to homeowners and renters and includes one-on-one coaching on how to reduce home energy costs. Topics include understanding your power bill, identifying low- or no-cost energy improvements, and accessing rebates and upgrade resources.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a recent utility bill for personalized guidance. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended and can be scheduled at https://nevadacountyca.libcal.com
Explore Songwriting with a Local Playwright
As part of the Sierra Poetry Festival Fringe, local playwright Kimberly Clouse will lead a unique workshop, Using Poetic Elements to Write Songs for Musical Theater, on Wednesday, April 30, 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library.
Participants will explore rhyme, rhythm and imagery through lyrics from musicals like Hamilton, Wicked and Chicago. This interactive and beginner-friendly workshop gives attendees the opportunity to start writing their own lyrics. No experience necessary.
Build Your Digital Skills with Technology Talk
The library’s popular Technology Talk series continues this spring with hands-on workshops held Thursdays 2 to 4 p.m., designed to boost digital confidence. Thanks to AT&T and the Public Library Association, all registered participants will receive a free 128GB flash drive.
Upcoming sessions at the Madelyn Helling Library include:
