More than 400 fifth graders met representatives from the Nevada County District Attorney, Public Defender, Sheriff and Probation Offices May 1 at the Nevada County Superior Court’s Law Day celebration.
The event offered students an opportunity to visit the courthouse, participate in a mock trial and learn about each party in the justice system that upholds the Constitution through their work. The event also included a mock trial, tour of the courthouse and an opportunity to meet law enforcement dogs.
“Law Day is a great opportunity to help young students understand how the justice system works and how different County departments work together to serve the public,” said County Counsel Kit Elliott.
