Truckee Voters to Consider up to $25 Million Library Bond in November Special Election

Home Posted on July 24, 2025

A special election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4, giving Truckee area voters the opportunity to decide whether to approve up to $25 million in bonds to help fund a new library.

If approved, Measure G would help fund a new facility to replace the existing 50-year-old library on Levon Avenue.

The proposed new library would be located in Truckee River Regional Park. It would house an emergency resource center to serve the region during wildfire/ power outages, support activities to benefit children and seniors, offer enhanced technology and improve access for people with disabilities.  The measure needs two-thirds vote to pass.

To repay the bonds, property owners within the new Community Facilities District No. 1 (Truckee Library) of the Truckee Library Joint Powers Authority would pay an annual special tax of 3 cents per square foot of building area or $29 per year for vacant parcels. The tax would be collected for 30 years.

Only voters in Community Facilities District 1 (Truckee Library) of the Truckee Library Joint Powers Authority can vote in the election. The election will be administered by both the Nevada County and Placer County registrars of voters.
