The Truckee Library will be hosting many exciting children’s and adult programs over the next couple of weeks.
Winter Reading Challenge
December 3rd - March 2nd
The Truckee Library’s annual Winter Reading Challenge will begin on Monday, December 3, 2018 and run through Saturday, March 2, 2019. Young readers can pick up a reading log to track their reading progress over the winter months, earning rewards along the way. Challenge finishers will receive an invitation to an exclusive Winter Challenge Party once the challenge ends.
Read Up For Fun (RUFF)
Wednesdays
The library has joined forces with the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe to bring the RUFF (Read Up For Fun) program to children in the library. Children can practice their reading skills by reading aloud to trained therapy animals. The animals will visit the Truckee Library every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Kids can play and make crafts while waiting their turn to read.
Winter Crafts
Mondays
The seasonal craft program for children will continue with Fall Crafts, but will soon be transitioning to Winter Crafts on Mondays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Join us for fun, creative activities and make sweet decorations to bring home. All ages are welcome.
Date with a Database: Job Search
December 10th
The Truckee Library will also host a program, Date with a Database, to promote helpful job searching skills using our databases. The Truckee Library is collaborating with the One-Stop Business and Career Center at the Truckee Joseph Center for this program on December 10th.
Holiday Dog Treats
The Truckee Library will also host a Holiday Dog Treats program open to all ages. Patrons will create organic, healthy treats for their dogs to celebrate the holidays. The treats will be for any size dog, but please be sure to keep these items refrigerated until just prior to sharing. There will be a limit of 5 treats per patron sign up.
Holiday Open House and Book Signing of Truckee: An Illustrated History of the Town and Its Surroundings
December 15th
The Truckee Library will also be working in collaboration with the Friends of the Truckee Library to host a Holiday Open House and Book Signing for the newly updated edition of Joanne Meschery's Truckee: An Illustrated History of the Town and Its Surroundings. This event will be held at the Truckee Library on December 15th from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
