Candidate Filing Period Opens Feb. 9 for June 2, 2026, Statewide Direct Primary Election

Monday, Feb. 9 marks the first day candidates may file nomination papers to run for office in the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election. The candidate filing period runs through 5 p.m. March 6 for offices that will appear on the ballot in Nevada County.

Local offices up for election include: 

  • County Assessor (incumbent Rolf Kleinhans)
  • County Auditor-Controller (incumbent Gina Will)
  • County Board of Supervisors District 3 (incumbent Lisa Swarthout)
  • County Board of Supervisors District 4 (incumbent Sue Hoek)
  • County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters (incumbent Armando Salud-Ambriz)
  • County Treasurer-Tax Collector (incumbent Michelle Bodley)
  • Nevada City Council Member (incumbent Adam Kline)
  • Nevada City Council Member (incumbent Lou Ceci)

 If an incumbent fails to file for office by 5 p.m. March 6, a five-calendar day extension period begins during which any qualified person other than the incumbent may file. The deadline for the extension period is 5 p.m. March 11.
