National Poetry Month is here, along with the Sierra Poetry Festival on April 27th, and it's the perfect excuse for a free creative writing workshop for all ages and experience levels at the Truckee Library.
Participants are invited for an afternoon of generative writing on Saturday, April 20th, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Writers will share poems by their favorite poets and then be led through a progression of writing prompts to generate their own works of poetry or story. The theme of this workshop is Breath and Shadow, breath indicating the ebb and flow of nature and the seasons, and shadow being symbolic of our ephemeral existence and self-reflection.
Local author, poet, and writing coach Karen Terrey of Tangled Roots Writing will be leading this workshop. All ages are welcome to learn and write in this interactive program.
This event forms part of the Sierra Poetry Festival's pre-festival pop-up poetry series. These events are provided throughout National Poetry Month.
