Nevada County's Social Services Director, Tex Ritter, has announced his retirement for late February 2020. Tex is a licensed attorney who has worked for Nevada County for over 10 years as the Director of Child Support, Interim Director of Public Health and, most recently, the Director of Social Services.
"Tex has been a great addition to the County's Health and Human Services team," said Ryan Gruver, Health and Human Services Agency Director. "We are thankful for the time he dedicated towards making our Child Support Department one of the best in the State and bringing a new, fresh perspective to Social Services."
Tex transitioned Nevada County's Child Support Department, also known as Sierra Nevada Regional Department of Child Support Services (SNRDCSS), into one of the highest preforming departments in the State. In 2017, SNRDCSS ranked second in the State under the five performance measures created by the federal Office of Child Support Enforcement and won the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program Site of the Year Award.
"I have had a number of great opportunities while working here and met a great group of people," said Tex Ritter. "While I switch gears into retirement in the New Year, I plan to continue pursuing my passion for running, and have several long distance races and the 10th Anniversary Tough Mudder race already planned."
Nevada County thanks Tex for his dedication, creativity, and focus on customer service and performance that he brought to the County over the past decade.
