Earth Day is celebrated across the globe on April 22nd. In celebration, Nevada County Community Library is offering a variety of earth friendly offerings all month long. The public will find displays, virtual programs and grab-and-go bags at selected branches for adults and children alike that focus on recycling, reusing and repurposing to celebrate Earth Day.
On the youth side, Truckee and Grass Valley Libraries are offering fun Spring nature-oriented Scavenger Hunts throughout the month of April. Grass Valley and Penn Valley Libraries have grab-and go bags each week using recycled or repurposed materials. Projects include recycled ceramic tiles for photo coasters and egg carton spring wreaths. Truckee and Madelyn Helling Libraries have easy access book displays and materials related to Earth Day and Ecology.
On April 22nd, Adult programming offerings include a Seed Starting Grab Bag Kit at the Madelyn Helling Library and Grow Your Own Sprouts for the home garden at the Grass Valley Library. Both are available while supplies last. On April 29th the Grass Valley Library will have kits available while supplies last for pick-up using Repurposed Coffee Sleeve to make journals.
The library is a place to help create a more earth-friendly environment including the lending out of books and e-resources. Find a full list of Earth Day related events at www.mynevadacounty.com/library/events or call (530) 265-7050.
