[ARCHIVED] Beware of COVID-19 Testing Scams

Beware of COVID-19 Testing Scams

The recent spike in COVID-19 cases has led to a wider public demand for testing. Unfortunately, this has opened the door for scammers to exploit those in need of COVID-19 tests.

Both the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau recently alerted consumers to COVID-19 testing scams, including fake home testing kits and fake testing sites. The California Department of Public Health has received many reports of potentially fraudulent pop-up COVID-19 test sites throughout California.

In Nevada County, we have two State-sponsored testing sites administered by LHI at the following locations:

Testing Locations & Hours

Western Nevada County
231 Colfax Avenue, Grass Valley, CA 95945 (inside the former Summer Thymes building, currently no drive-thru or in-car testing available)
 Monday-Saturday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

Eastern Nevada County
10990 Donner Pass Rd. Truckee, CA 96161 (in the Gateway building, across the street from the Tahoe Forest Health System)
 Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

We keep an up-to-date list of state testing locations and hours on our website at MyNevadaCounty.com/Coronavirus/Testing. You will never be asked to pay for testing at these locations. Any other test sites are independently operated and have no connection to the Nevada County Public Health department, the California Department of Public Health, or LHI.
