The South Yuba River Citizen’s League (SYRCL) is seeking 70 volunteer River Ambassadors to help educate river visitors between May 27 and September 5.
Each year, over 800,000 people visit the Yuba River, many without a basic understanding of legal parking, proper disposal of trash, river safety, fire risk and prevention, and environmental stewardship. River Ambassadors use a friendly, non-confrontational approach to educate visitors about the impacts of trash and dog waste, the dangers of broken glass, and the catastrophic potential of wildfire. This dedicated team of volunteers interacts with river visitors at crossings, beaches, and on trails each weekend from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Contact Maddie Davis, SYRCL’s Community Engagement Manager, at 530.265.5961 or maddie@yubariver.org to ask questions or sign up.
