Health, Safety, and Fire Preparedness Carnival

Health, Safety & Fire Preparedness Carnival Saturday, May 7 11am to 4pm (free admission)

This Saturday, May 7th, from 11 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. the Gold Country Kiwanis, Ready Nevada County, Nevada County Office of Emergency Services, and Fire Safe Council of Nevada County are once again partnering to produce the Children’s Health and Wildfire Safety Carnival. This free educational event will comprise nearly 4 acres of activity at the Rood Center off Highway 49 in Nevada City.

The carnival will highlight the incredible first responders, firefighters, law enforcement personnel, search and rescue volunteers, emergency medical service workers, and wildfire prevention efforts of the Nevada County community.

All ages are encouraged to participate in interactive safety simulations, games, and engaging activities. Past crowd favorites have included helicopter landings, fire engines, and police vehicles. The California Highway Patrol will be performing car seat installations and giving out free car seats while supplies last. On scene will be free delicious popcorn, BBQ with salads and chips, music, art, a fun slide, and guest appearances from favorite mascots throughout the afternoon.

This is a community-wide effort featuring many agencies and non-profits focusing on the health and safety of Nevada County families. Special thanks to our sponsors Suburban Propane, the Nevada County Law Enforcement & Fire Protection Council, the Masonic Lodges, the Alta Sierra Property Owners Association, Briar Patch Food Coop, and SPD Markets.
