PUBLIC NOTICE

Assessment Appeal Applications for Fiscal Year 2022/23 are available at the Board of Supervisors Office, Second Floor, Eric Rood Administrative Center, 950 Maidu Avenue, Suite 200, Nevada City, California, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. weekdays, or phone (530) 265-1480, or online https://www.nevadacountyca.gov/840/Assessment-Appeals-Board-AAB. You may file regular assessment roll appeals for real property on the secured roll between July 2 and November 30, 2022. A $30 filing fee is required with submittal of the application. (Pursuant to Government Code Section 68632, you may qualify for a fee waiver; please contact the Clerk of the Board for further information.)

The regular assessment roll is a listing of assessed properties in the County. It is prepared on a fiscal year basis (July 1 through June 30) and reflects changes that occurred in the previous calendar year or earlier. The filing period is between July 2 and November 30 in the year the property’s value is placed on the regular assessment roll, or within the following three years.

Applications that are mailed and date stamped or delivered to the Clerk of the Board/Board of Supervisors office on or before November 30, 2022, will be accepted as filed in a timely manner. Please be aware that the post office no longer routinely date stamps mail; you may want to request this service.

The Assessment Appeals Board, appointed by the Nevada County Board of Supervisors, will hear protests beginning August 17, 2022, in the Board Chambers, Eric Rood Administrative Center, Nevada City, and will continue to hold regular monthly meetings until the business of equalization is disposed of.
