[ARCHIVED] Live in or Own an ADU in Nevada County? Share Your Story, Get Paid, Help Promote ADUs/JADUs

Live or Own an ADU? Do our survey link in bio or post

Mother Lode ADU – a new initiative from Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, and Nevada counties – is looking for owners of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU) or Junior ADUs (JADUs) and tenants who live in one to tell their story. Those who are selected to participate will receive up to $200.

What’s an ADU and JADU?

ADUs, also called backyard cottages and granny units, are small second homes built on the same property as the main home. They can be built separately, converted from an existing structure (like a detached garage or basement), attached to the main house, or within the main home (like a converted living space). JADUs are within the main home and under 500 square feet.

Why We Want to Hear From You

We are producing free resources to make it easier for people to build ADUs and JADUs in the region. Hearing positive stories from neighbors who have experience with building one of their own will help inspire others and make a big difference in our community! Here is an example from Marin County: www.adumarin.org/inspiration.

The Details

Those who are selected will be paid to participate - $100 for photos or video or $200 for both. Participants will be interviewed by phone and then photographed or recorded at their ADU to discuss the building process and showcase how it is used. We will work with you to make sure the final story is accurate, and any materials produced will only be used to inspire others, not sell anything. When we are done, you will receive your stipend plus professional photographs.

Survey Link

Please fill out the brief survey at bit.ly/MotherLodeADU by December 15th, so that we can start to get to know you and your ADU! If you are selected, we will reach out to you within a couple of weeks. We will keep your answers confidential.

If you have any questions, please contact Josh Ellsworth by email.
