Measure V

Posted on: November 29, 2022

[ARCHIVED] Nevada County Voters Choose Not to Adopt Measure V

On November 8th, Nevada County voters opted not to approve Measure V, the “Wildfire Prevention, Emergency Services and Disaster Readiness” measure.

The Board of Supervisors placed Measure V on the ballot to establish a locally controlled ½ percent countywide general sales tax to reduce the threat of wildfire and improve evacuation safety.

“The County takes its direction from the community. The Board offered voters a choice, and we are grateful to the thousands of residents who provided input into the crafting of Measure V and for participating in the election. It was an important decision for the community to make,” said Board Chair Sue Hoek.

“Despite the outcome of Measure V, we will continue to do our best to provide emergency and wildfire preparedness with our current resources,” said County Executive Officer Alison Lehman.
