[ARCHIVED] Resources Available for Businesses Impacted by Feb 2023 Winter Storm

Resources Available for Businesses Impacted by Feb 2023 Winter Storm Deadline to Apply July 20, 2023

Are you a business impacted by the 2023 winter storms?  If you are a business, homeowner, or renter in Nevada County that suffered physical damage or economic impacts because of Severe Winter Storms, Straight-line Winds, Flooding, Landslides, and Mudslides that began on Feb. 21, 2023, resources are now available from the Small Business Administration (SBA).

As of June 30, 2023, Nevada County was included for Physical Damage and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Assistance. Those who were impacted can now seek assistance.

A fact sheet can be found at  CA #17842 Fact Sheet (sba.gov) that outlines what types of disaster loans are available and the requirements, interest rates, loan amounts, etc. Restrictions on eligibility include only uninsured or otherwise uncompensated disaster losses, ineligibility of secondary homes, personal pleasure boats, airplanes, recreational vehicles, etc. unless they are used for business purposes, and those previous applicants that have not complied with SBA loans. Additional information can be found at FEMA at 4699 | FEMA.gov

The deadline to apply for a Physical Damage Loan has been extended to September 1, 2023. For Economic Injury (EIDL) Loan applications the deadline is January 3, 2024. For businesses that wish to apply, the Sierra Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is available to provide no-cost assistance with the application. The SBDC can be reached at (530) 582-5022 or info@sierrasbdc.com. The application can also be accessed through the SBA website at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/

To begin the SBA application process directly:

  • Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information, and download applications at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/. Enter the state, then the appropriate county. Select the Disaster declared on April 3, 2023, then Apply for Assistance.
  • Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.

As always, please feel free to reach out to the Nevada County Economic Development Office at (530) 470-2795 or kimberly.parker@nevadacountyca.gov.
