On Thursday, March 28th, Nevada County Library hosts “Writing as Activism”, a workshop and poetry reading with Nevada County Poet Laureate Emeritus, Molly Fisk.

A Nevada County Reads 2024 program, "Writing as Activism" aims to harness the power of words to effect change and advocate for social justice. The Nevada County Poet Laureate program, established by the Nevada County Arts Council, proudly presents this enriching experience in conjunction with Nevada County Library.

From 4 to 5 pm, the workshop portion of the event offers attendees an opportunity to delve into the intersections of writing and activism under the guidance of Molly Fisk. Participants can expect to explore various techniques for using poetry and writing as a tool for advocacy and self-expression.

Following the workshop, at 7:00 pm, Molly Fisk will present a captivating poetry reading, featuring themes from her role as editor of the poignant anthology, "California Fire & Water." Fisk's subject matter for this reading draws from her experiences and observations of the California landscape, weaving together narratives of resilience, environmental consciousness, and human connection.

Don't miss this exceptional opportunity to engage with one of the Nevada County’s foremost poetic voices and explore the transformative potential of writing as activism.
