Nevada County has received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget for the ninth straight year.
This reflects the commitment of the County and staff to meet the highest principles of government budgeting. To receive the award, the County had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
These guidelines are designed to assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents had to be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award. The criteria and the County budget practices are updated periodically to keep up with current best practices.
"We are proud and honored to get this prestigious recognition of the county’s budgeting practices,” said Deputy County Executive Officer Martin Polt. “Our budget is a reflection of the excellent stewardship and fiscal management that our Board of Supervisors strives for."
The Government Finance Officers Association advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 22,500 members and the communities they serve.
